Abstract

Six sets of large-scale circular reinforced concrete column sections were tested under monotonically axial compression. The primary variables were the transverse reinforcement class (spiral or circular tie), splice type and crossties. The equivalent volumetric ratio of transverse steel bar for two crosstie types is proposed and findings for practical design are outlined in this paper.
