Abstract

In the production line of thin steel plates which are widely used in various industrial products, steel plates are generally conveyed while in contact with rollers in the conveyance process. This leads to deterioration in the quality of the plate surface, such as flaws and peeling of the plated layer. As a solution, we have proposed a hybrid levitation control system for thin steel plate using the static magnetic force generated by permanent magnets, which have no operational costs. We investigated the levitation stability when changing the distance between the permanent magnet arrangement and the steel plate using a 0.24 mm thin steel plate. We investigated the levitation stability when 0.24 mm thin steel plate was used to change the distance, arrangement and number of permanent magnets and steel plate. We confirmed that they affect the levitation stability.
