Abstract

(Abstracted from J Ultrasound Med 2020;39:471–480) Improvements in ultrasound technology, with better resolution and color mapping, have made it possible to assess the fetal heart both transvaginally and transabdominally as early as the first trimester. There is a growing interest in using this technology for the early detection of congenital heart defects (CHDs), which occurs in 5 to 9 per 1000 live births.
