Abstract

AbstractIn this paper, the performance of energy detection in cognitive radio systems over a multipath fading channel is evaluated. The secondary user performs spectrum sensing using energy detection based on the primary signal that has traversed a multipath fading channel. The detection probability and false alarm probability are calculated and simulated. The results show that the detection probability is affected by the quadratic sum of fading coefficients while the false alarm probability keeps fixed.
