Abstract

Relay networks provide benefits of communication coverage extension, enhancement of data rate, and elimination of shadowed area. In this paper, we study the performance of relay network with dual-hop scenario in railway environments. It is assumed that the data transmission is carried out in partially differential scheme where the source-relay link uses coherent modulation scheme, and the relay-destination link uses differential modulation scheme. The performance is analyzed with symbol error rate (SER). We also investigate the effect energy allocation with respect to the SER depending on the relay location. The performance of proposed scheme is compared with the system adopting fully coherent modulation scheme.
