Abstract

We evaluate the performance of a distributed dynamic channel assignment (DDCA) strategy with the both high speed mobile stations (HSMSs) and the low speed mobile stations (LSMSs). At first, we compare two channel assignment strategies for intercell handover calls. Simulation results show that assigning a new channel to a handover call according to the algorithm of channel assignment has better performance than trying to assign the previous channel. Next, we propose a DDCA with channel frame for forced call termination (cfFCT). Furthermore, we propose channel reassignment from cfFCT to nominal channels that are released by the completion of a call. Simulation results show that forced call termination decreases as increasing the number of cfFCT. Furthermore, channel reassignment is more effective not only to decrease forced call termination but also to increase the total carried load.
