Abstract
A technique of reducing the zero‐order coherently generated noise in an ordinary Bragg‐diffraction imaging system by means of partially coherent light illumination (both temporal and spatial coherence) is described. The reduction is due to the decrease of both types of coherence in the illumination, because the noise generation depends on coherent light illumination in the ordinary imaging system. The experimental results demonstrate that the noise has been decreased dramatically without great sacrifice of the image quality. Moreover, by investigating the imaging characteristics with various types of illumination, the illumination with lower temporal and higher spatial coherence was found to be most effective in noise reduction and image formation.
