Abstract

A novel manufacturing process for anti-glare (AG) coating is proposed for the LCD cover glass that is purposed to significantly improve the durability of AG film, which is widely implemented in commercial products designed for outdoor use. The proposed coating method is implemented in the screen-printing process, which precedes the glass-tempering process, entails application of ZBS (ZnO-B2O3-SiO2) to the glass surface during the silk screen-printing process, and achieves the desired level of performance through the tempering process. We also implemented the experimental results to establish the primary design parameters and derive the formulae necessary to develop a performance model that can predict the haze, roughness, and transmittance of the cover glass, which are representative specification of cover glass. Experimentation was used to subsequently verify the proposed method and the performance model.
