Abstract

The Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display (TFT-LCD) industry is one of the most important global industries. TFT-LCD is commonly used in TVs, desktop computers, and laptop computers. Based on the value of the output for each country, Taiwan has become the largest TFT-LCD producing nation. Thus, evaluating the performance of 19 TFT-LCD manufacturers in Taiwan is important. This paper used Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to assess whether a manufacturer considered as a Decision Making Unit (DMU) is relatively efficient or not. Four input parameters, i.e., total assets, total operating cost, total operating expenses, number of employees, and one output parameter, total operating revenue, were applied to find the most efficient DMU. Three new models, the NCN-SBM model, the NCN SBM-Additive Model, and the NCN SBM-Additive Context-Dependent Model have been implemented for solving efficiency problems. This paper can provide assistance to managers learning of the efficiency of companies and recognizing potential competitors.
