Abstract

“Barnabott the Clown’s great colonial bingo” is a performance that seeks to show how Australian governments currently practice settler colonialism. This essay accompanies the edited video capture of Barnabott’s performance at a colloquium held in December 2015 at the College de France in Paris focusing on how action is staged in domains where humans experiment new ways of transforming or interpreting the world. Barnabott thus turns to farce the bloody continuation, under polite political masks, of a settler government’s attack of indigenous peoples and societies.
