Abstract

The oscillating water column (OWC) based wave energy conversion is one of the widely used wave energy conversion techniques. In this method, an air turbine is driven by a reciprocating airflow generated due to the sea wave motion in an air chamber. Sail wing turbine has been attracting attention as a new candidate for OWC based wave energy conversion, and the development of this turbine is currently underway. Heretofore, a wind tunnel test and a numerical analysis have been conducted under a unidirectional steady flow condition. In this study, the performance of the sail wing turbine under a reciprocating airflow was investigated by using a quasi-steady numerical analysis.
