Abstract

Development in the design of heat exchangers in past years has taken the demand and usage of radiators to an improved level. Radiators, known as core components of the engine cooling system are now available in many designs and according to the material used. Selection of type of material, whether aluminum or copper is dependent on cost, heat rejection, convection, conduction thermal properties, and many more. Current radiators are either aluminum or copper. Generally, copper radiators are preferred or used in spite of aluminum being cheap and easily available. This paper will compare the performance and analyze both radiators. The objective of the report is to establish a standard material of radiator for various tractor models. Manual Calculation considerations for different variables, MAC (maximum ambient capability), effectiveness, Nusselt number for radiators, and testing of airflow measurement and water flow measurement at different marked points on the radiator will be illustrated with help of suitable test rigs.
