Abstract

Agricultural residues are eco-friendly and biodegradable alternatives to otherwise utilized polystyrene and polyurethane foams as pyramidal absorbers for applications in an anechoic chamber. In this investigation, test samples of two agricultural residues, namely, corn husk and wheat straw composites using polyester resin have been fabricated, and using the transmission line method their dielectric properties are measured in X- band. Also, two designs of pyramidal microwave absorbers are modeled in CST microwave studio with the measured value of dielectric parameters. Also, absorption performance has been evaluated by studying return loss profile of the corn husk and wheat straw composites based pyramidal array microwave absorber and double pyramidal array microwave absorber.
