Abstract
Saturated Core Fault Current Limiter offers excellent performance in comparison with conventional measures to limit fault currents. With its appealing practical advantages, the saturated core fault current limiter (SCFCL) has recently demonstrated its application over transmission and distribution power networks. The single-phase, single-core, closed DC - open AC configuration of SCFCL has been experimentally explored in this paper. Based on the measured limiting reactance of SCFCL, a statistical analysis has been carried out under transient conditions. The Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) has been used for this purpose. Moreover, based on the observed population obtained during the steady-state and transient condition, a probability density function and cumulative density function have been plotted for SCFCL reactance.
