Abstract

The performance of self-made Al2O3/nylon1010 (Al2O3/PA1010) and Al2O3/epoxy composite coatings (Al2O3/EP) in reducing soil adhesion and bulldozing resistance was tested using bulldozing resistance testing equipment. Steel 45 was used as a comparative material. The experimental results show that both Al2O3/PA1010 and Al2O3/EP exhibit the obvious function of reducing soil adhesion and bulldozing resistance. This function for Al2O3/PA1010 is better than that for Al2O3/EP. The reduction in resistance for Al2O3/PA1010 and Al2O3/EP is ≤25.76%, and ≤22.62%, respectively. The moisture content of the soil and the cutting speed of the bulldozing plate have some influence on the soil adhesion and bulldozing resistance. The ploughing resistance of mouldboards coated with Al2O3/PA1010 and Al2O3/EP, respectively, were determined in a laboratory soil bin. A maximum of 35.8% reduction in ploughing resistance was obtained for the mouldboard coated with Al2O3/PA1010 and a maximum of 30.31% reduction for the mouldboard coated with Al2O3/EP composite coatings.
