Abstract
Switched reluctance motor due to its simplicity has been in demand now a day. In this paper speed control of switched reluctance motor is investigated. Here two types of controllers are used in the control design i.e. conventional PI controller and sliding mode controller. The responses for step changes in reference speed and load torque are compared and the performances evaluated. The simulation results show improved transient and steady state performance and robustness of the SRM based drive system with sliding mode controllers. The work is completely done in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment.
