Abstract

A CSRR based medical antenna backed with EBG-FSS structure operating at 2.4-GHz industrial, scientific and medical radio(ISM) band is proposed in this paper. The antenna is foldable, made of copper sheet along with layers of jeans material and foam, which acts as an isolator between the antenna and EBG-FSS structures. The printed CSRR structure is used to achieve high gain, end fire radiation pattern, and decreased path loss. An EBG-FSS structure is used for reducing the detuning properties of the antenna and specific absorption rate (SAR) when placed on human body.
