Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the performance of the developed mixture to solve problems such as early deterioration (cracks and potholes) in porous pavements. The mixture was developed to ensure the long-term performance of porous asphalt pavements for bridge deck pavements. A porous mixture was developed using polymer-modified asphalt (PG 88-28) with improved low-temperature characteristics. To evaluate the performance of the developed porous asphalt mixture, a moisture resistance, dynamic stability, Hamburg wheel tracking, and 4-point repeated beam fatigue tests were performed. It was found that the performance of the porous asphalt mixture developed in this study satisfied the quality standards of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport and showed superior performance compared with the existing porous mixture. In particular, it has excellent resistance to fatigue cracking and rutting, thus it is judged that it can be applied to various road pavement fields.
