Abstract

Currently, there is a growing need for significant breakthroughs that are diverse across various disciplines in the building industry. Every aspect of nanotechnology has advanced during the past ten years, particularly nanoparticles and powders. The performance of nano slag incorporating in concrete for design mix M70 for high strength concrete with mix proportion 1:0.76:1.89 was evaluated by a laboratory-based experiment, which is described in this paper. The present study investigates the various fundamental properties of concrete, including its behaviour under compressive, flexural, and split tensile loads, and is later expanded to include mortar experiments using nano-sized slag. At first, slag was used to replace 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40% of regular Portland cement, respectively. The slag was then ground in a High Energy Ball Mill for 15 h to create nano slag, which was then added to concrete at various percentages of 2 to 8 percent. According to the experimental results, the compressive strength improved to 7.65 percent relative to the base mix at a 20 percent substitution of slag (C200). Additionally, compared to regular concrete, the inclusion of 4 percent nano slag demonstrated a 17 percent improvement in compressive behaviour. This kind of blended cement can be utilised to meet cement's quick-hardening requirements.
