Abstract

AbstractA new pulse compression filter design technique to realize theoretical minimum S/N loss with zero range sidelobe was indicated in our previous paper. In succession, we have verified in this paper the performance of this pulse compression filter applied to discrete phase‐coded waveforms modulated by Barker code or P4 code via numerical simulations. As a result, we have concluded that the filter derived by our proposed formula surely realizes zero range sidelobe even in the case of oversampling in one code chip, the compressed pulse width is almost the same as the code chip length, and the degradation caused by the Doppler effect is inevitable but equivalent to traditional pulse compression filters. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
