Abstract

In this paper, we propose a joint network coding and relay selection scheme for two-way relay channels. In this scheme, first each source transmits its information to all relays. Next, two “best relays” which minimize the average bit-error-rate (BER) are selected. Then, the selected relays combine the received information and broadcast them to the sources. The BER of the proposed scheme is obtained analytically and also verified through Monte Carlo simulations. The results show that the scheme has superior performance compared to an existing work that uses Alamouti space-time block coded (STBC).
