Abstract

The performance of demolition waste infiledl geocell in subgrade was studied using laboratory flexure testing and subgrade rutting analysis using KENPAVE software. The results obtained were compared with other infill materials: soil and sand. Flexural behaviour was determined using four-point bending tests, with results in terms of modulus improvement factor (MIF). Elastic modulus from the bending test was used for pavement design and software analysis. The geocells were prepared with three aspect ratios. Subgrade rutting life was obtained in terms of Equivalent Single Axle Load (ESAL) and Traffic Benefit Ratio (TBR) from software results. Demolition waste infilled geocell mattress with aspect ratio 0.67 showed improved behaviour in MIF and TBR followed by soil and sand. An attempt was made to create linear regression model for prediction of modulus of reinforced subgrade. Hence, subgrade reinforced with demolition waste as infill can improve pavement performance with economical and sustainable approach in pavement design.
