Abstract
A sensitive LC-CAD method was developed for simultaneous determination of seven major triterpenoid saponins, namely ginsenosides Rg1, Re, Rb1, Rc, Rb2, Rb3 and Rd in Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer, a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine. This CAD method was evaluated in sensitivity, linearity and reproducibility compared to ELSD and UV. It was found the developed method has improved sensitivity, linearity and reproducibility compared to ELSD. This method was successfully applied to analyze the ginsenosides in ten samples of Panax ginseng. The validation results indicated that the improved method can be utilized as another approach for quality control of P. ginseng.
