Abstract

In this study, employing glucose solution, we describe a straightforward and unique non-enzymatic clad modified PMMA optic fiber glucose sensor. Intriguingly, Ce doped ZnO w as synthesized by the sol-gel process, and their structural and morphological features were investigated in order to explore their effectiveness as a glucose sensor. This is because numerous unique metal oxides have shown remarkable potential for directly detecting glucose The performance of the linearly aligned optical sensor is evaluated using freshly purchased glucose solution and three-month-old glucose solution in a dark room at two distinct room temperatures (20 °C and 30 °C). Results indicate very good sensitivity, repeatability and selectivity towards Ce doped ZnO coated fiber optic sensor at 30 °C in fresh glucose solution, with sensitivity (%) around 12 %, wherein the detection method involved in this work is chemisorption method, making it suitable for commercialization.
