Abstract

Cadmium telluride (CdTe) quantum dots (QDs) represent an attractive option for the development of luminescent solar concentrators (LSCs). Green and red emitting CdTe QDs were synthesized, characterized and proposed as fluorophores for LSCs. The photon flux density concentration factor was calculated by an analytical model, which in conjunction with a COMSOL silicon solar cell photogeneration model was utilized to predict the total power conversion efficiency (PCE) of each prospective LSC. A maximum total PCE efficiency of 1.04 % was obtained using red emitting CdTe QDs as fluorophore on the proposed LSCs.
