Abstract

The paper describes the evaluation of two diamides (prepared by reacting 3,5-di-t.-butyl-4-hydroxy benzoic acid and either 4,4′-diaminodiphenyl methane (AM-1) or 4,4′-diaminodiphenyl ether (AM-2)) as antioxidants in HDPE. DSC was used to study the effect of structure and concentration (0.25–1.0% (w/w)) of the antioxidants, temperature (for isothermal scans) and heating rate (in dynamic scans) on HDPE oxidation. AM-2 was found to be a better antioxidant in these formulations.
