Abstract

A single stage three-phase four-wire grid connected Solar Photovoltaic System consisting of a Three leg Voltage Source Converter and a star/delta transformer is proposed. The performance of the system carried out with various control algorithms. In single stage grid connected photovoltaic system, maximum power point tracking is done using Voltage Source Converter unlike two-stage system that employs a DC-DC converter. Hence improvement in overall efficiency of system is achieved. The star/delta transformer mitigates zero sequence current in three phase four wire distribution system. The system not only provides injection of active power from solar panel to the electric grid but also performs harmonics elimination, load balancing, power factor correction and regulating the terminal voltage at the Point of Common Coupling. In this paper, the performance of the three-phase four-wire grid connected system with different control approaches namely Synchronous Reference Frame Theory, Instantaneous Reactive Power Theory and Least Mean Fourth is analyzed using MATLAB software with its Simulink and Power System Blockset toolboxes.
