Abstract

Polygonalized phased arrays are a compromise between planar arrays and cylindrical arrays that provide surveillance radar systems improved surveillance time from a convenient form factor while also enabling many key aspects of ubiquitous radar. Unlike prior investigations of horizon surveillance, this article investigates the benefits offered by cylindrical and polygonalized array geometries, where elements pointing in differing directions can be combined coherently.
