Abstract

The Internet is a very important aspect in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0. The Internet of Things has a huge impact on many kinds of industry. There are many IoT platforms that allow us to send and receive data and it raises difficulty to choose the right platform for particular system. In this study, three IoT platforms are compared to find out how well they perform. The system model that is used in this study consists of two subsytem that send data to the IoT platforms via wifi connection. Data is generated by the DHT11 temperature sensors and processed by NodeMCU prior to transmission process. IoT Platforms will display the data received with the time when it's received. Many devices are used in the system for our study, such as NodeMCU as a microcontroller, Ubidots, Thingspeak, and Antares as IoT platforms, DHT11 sensors and pseudo-data as data input. The designed system worked well to provide adequate number of data to be sent to IoT platform. The IoT platforms are evaluated using two parameters; delay and data error rate. The results of this study show that the performance of IoT platforms depend on data transmission interval time regardless the server location.
