Abstract

For a precise prediction of the energy yield of amorphous (a-Si) and amorphous-microcrystalline tandem (a-Si/μc-Si) thinfilm-silicon photovoltaic (PV) modules it is important to know their performance ratio under different light conditions. The efficiency of solar modules is an important value for the monitoring and planning of PV-systems. The efficiency of a-Si solar modules shows no significant changes in the performance ratio at clouded or clear sky conditions. The efficiency of crystalline silicon-based (c-Si) and a-Si/μc-Si solar modules shows a lower efficiency for fully clouded conditions without direct irradiation compared to conditions with direct irradiation (clear sky).
