Abstract
To safely and responsibly operate a X-ray mammographysystem, quality control and specific performance tests must be appliedregularly. The aim of this work is to evaluate the performance of a digitalX-ray mammography system for use in a future 3D imaging system. Standardcommissioning and acceptance testing of the X-ray tube linearity, reproducibility, kVp accuracy and Half Value Layer (HVL) at the differentavailable settings of the system are reported. Moreover, the image qualityassessment follows standard protocols and includes pixel intensitymeasurements as well as subjective assessments, using Leeds Test Objects. Inaddition, an accreditation phantom that simulates a compressed breast hasbeen used to investigate the overall system performance. The results weresatisfactory and within international standards.
