Abstract

This paper presents an advanced methodology for performance and temperature estimation of an induction motor based on transient voltage and current measurement. The transient stator voltage and current of a 0.5 hp, 110 V, 50 Hz induction motor have been recorded using a power analyzer. Based on the measurements, equivalent circuit parameters and losses have been estimated employing particle swarm optimization and Genetic Algorithm. The estimated performance and temperature characteristics have been compared with the measured values. The comparison results portray an acceptable degree of accuracy of the proposed estimation technique.
