Abstract

A complete theoretical statement about the performance of the electrical differential can be expressed in terms of four parameters. The paper describes two simple tests for determining these parameters, and compares predicted results with observed results for three different arrangements: an orthodox cylindrical salient-pole machine in commercial production, a motor with orthodox stator and a specially constructed salient-pole rotor and a differentially connected salient-pole linear motor.
