Abstract

The paper presents performance analysis of wavelet techniques used for the compression of ultrasound compound images. The compression technique used includes EZW, SPIHT, STW, WDR, ASWDR, and SPIHT 3D. The quality parameters were used as an input to the correlation model for comparative performance analysis. In the study quality parameters used against each compression technique includes compression ratio (CR), bits per pixel (BPP), mean square error (MSE), peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR), normalized cross correlation(NK), average difference(AD), structural content(SC), maximum difference(MD) and normalized absolute error(NAE). The WDR compression method was observed to outperform all the other compression techniques during the analysis based on quality parameters..
