Abstract
The high power capability of multilevel inverters in medium and low voltage applications is making them increasingly popular nowadays. The analysis of a five level T-type inverter connected with solar photovoltaic is presented in this paper. This paper focuses on the analysis and study of different modulating techniques on aT-type inverter. The Level-shifting Pulse Width Modulation (LSPWM) and Phase Shifting Pulse Width Modulation (PSPWM) are compared in this work. LSPWM techniques include Phase Disposition Pulse Width Modulation (PDPWM), Phase Opposition Disposition Pulse Width Modulation (PODPWM), Alternate Phase Opposition Disposition Pulse Width Modulation (APODPWM). A comparison of the results is made based on the total harmonic distortion (THD). The analysis is performed on PSIM environment and it is found that for T -type multi-level inverter, level-shifted PWM techniques are a better choice as compared to phase-shifted PWM technique.
