Abstract

Current harmonics are the major problem that seen in the distributed system due to the wide spread usage of the harmonic loads. Conventionally, the harmonic related problems are reduced by using the passive harmonic filters. The performance of the passive filter largely depends up on the system impedance and it subjected to change frequently. Because of this reason active power filter (APF) with several control mechanism like Instantaneous power (IRP) theory and Synchronous rotating frame (SRF) methods are used. In this paper the evaluation of the SRF method is done under non linear and unbalanced load condition. The objective of this paper is to find a suitable control strategy for reference current extraction of the voltage source inverter (VSI). The performance of the shunt active power filter (SAPF) that based on PI controller and FUZZY controller is compared and evaluated. The results are verified using MATLAB/Simulink.
