Abstract

In this paper, an experimental investigation on the performance of vapor-compression based milk refrigerator using R290 as refrigerant is carried out. Milk refrigerator is driven by solar photovoltaic. R290 is considered to be the next generation refrigerant due to its excellent thermodynamic properties, cost, and environmental characteristics. The experimental set up consists of milk refrigerator that includes variable speed R290 DC compressor and solar PV modules along with batteries. Various performance parameters i.e. coefficient of performance, solar coefficient of performance, cooling capacity, and energy consumption are investigated for the different room temperature using variable speed mode. The results obtained from the tests are presented and discussed.
