Abstract
The objective of the present paper is to enhance the performance of skimmed milk-producing system which ensures fluent functioning of the whole milk plant. Skimmed milk-producing system is the primary section of the milk plant from, where milk is transferred as par as required to other processing units/systems such as butter production system, butter–oil production system, skimmed milk powder production system, paneer production system, and dahi (curd) production system. If the primary section of the milk plant will not function efficiently; then, it is not possible for other milk-processing units/systems to remain in operative mode in long run which shall definitely affect the performance of the whole milk plant. Therefore, to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the whole milk plant, primary section, i.e., skimmed milk-producing system should remains operative. The distributions of failure times of the subsystems are exponential, while the repair times of the subsystems are arbitrarily distributed. The supplementary variable technique has been used to analyze the skimmed milk-producing system of milk plant. In addition, the behavior of availability and profit of the skimmed milk-producing system is discussed for some specified values of parameters for exponential distribution, Rayleigh distribution, and Weibull distribution.
