Abstract

Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) transmission system is one of the recent and the most promising technology which uses multiple antennas in the transmitter as well as receiver side and is currently used for high-rate wireless communication. However, Multi-path propagation leads to IS! in MIMO wireless receiver. To eliminate ISI we need to equalize the received signal. Equalizers like Zero forcing equalizer (ZFE), minimum mean square error (MMSE) and maximum likelihood (ML) detection algorithms can be employed in time domain for this purpose. In MIMO, many receiver algorithms have been used for the detection of the transmitted symbols. In this paper, some of the detection algorithms are discussed with SIMO and MIMO systems and they are compared based on BER performance. Simulation result shows that ML detection algorithm outperforms the equalizer based detection algorithms namely, ZF, MMSE.
