Performance analysis of radio over intersatellite optical wireless communication system

Abstract

In this paper, a complete modelling and analysis of radio over IsOWC system with an optical booster amplifier and an optical preamplifier is presented. The influence of satellite vibration and bias voltage of the electrooptical modulator is analysed. The closed-form expressions for average RF gain and noise figure are derived. Numerical results for RF gain and noise figure are given for demonstration. Results indicate that the gain of optical preamplifier can obviously improve the performance of the proposed system and the optimal bias voltage exists.
