Abstract

AbstractIn the field of power systems, simulation of various controllers is done by using different software such as MATLAB, LABVIEW, and PSCAD. This paper presents the improvement of the transient stability of the system with the help of coordinated static compensator (STATCOM) which is shunt FACTS device and is used for improving the stability, and multiband power system stabilizer (MBPSS) is used which provides low frequency oscillations. For simulation, four generators six-bus multimachine power systems which is a modified model of Western system coordinating council (WSCC) and four machines six-bus power system networks are opted for analysis of the proposed scheme, and results of power system stabilizer (PSS) and STATCOM are compared. In this paper, mainly rotor angle stability is taken for analysis, and reactive power absorbed or delivered by the STATCOM is also investigated which depends on the system voltage.KeywordsStabilityPSSMBPSSSTATCOMMATLAB/SIMULINK
