Abstract

In the recent research scenario, power quality issues are the major challenges and power electronic filtering techniques are the most emerging research areas for the engineers. In many literatures the evolution of the filtering mechanism and the details of different filtering techniques such as active filters, passive filters and adaptive filters are discussed. This research work focuses on the performance evaluation of different passive harmonics mitigating filters used for the HVDC installed applications and their response during variable load conditions. Here, a HVDC installation is considered with two series connected rectifiers and a resistive load. A detail harmonic analysis is carried out and the output response is analyzed in MATLAB/simulink environment with the use of passive filters implemented in the HVDC system.
