Abstract

The amount of solar energy that the Earth receives is very abundant, in addition, one hour of sunlight is capable of meeting a large part of the energy needs of the world as a whole. The main objective of this study is to perform an accurate energy analysis for a PV system in a Moroccan region characterized by arid climatic conditions, by introducing a detailed energy evaluation adapted to the studied system. The energy analysis performed in this work is focused on the implementation of a thermal balance that includes the different components that constitute the considered PV module. A comparative study between two typical days was conducted for a site that is situated in the Errachidia area of Morocco. A mathematical method using the heat balance and the different climatic parameters was applied for a winter day and a summer day which are examined in this work. The effect of the meteorological parameters that define each testing day on the energy performance of the PV module has been studied. The obtained results indicate that the electrical efficiency and electrical power take daily averages that reach: 12.55%, 55.42 W and 11.24%, 49.89 W for the tested winter and summer days, respectively.
