Abstract

Internet of things IoT is the interconnected objects or things that allows to facilitate a ubiquitous activity of smart devices. This study aims to present the current state of lightweight cryptography algorithms used in Internet of Things environment. This study performs a systematic review of literature to identify the lightweight cryptography algorithms, extracts relevant data such as level of security, encryption and decryption performance, execution time, memory usage, clock, speed, latency, and frequency. Comparison tables shows these data for further analysis, assessment and evaluation. This study contributes by providing an understanding of the performance of the lightweight cryptography algorithms used in Internet of Things environment and devices. This study also presents future work to guide researchers in extending the contribution of this study.
