Abstract

(OAF) All-Optical Amplify-and-forward Relaying technique is exploited to amplify, filter and forward the weak signal. It is also considered to be an easy method to increase the communicating distance of FSO systems [1]. The main drawback of existing relaying node is degradation of system’s bit error ratio (BER) and the value of optical signal to noise ratio (OSNR) has also been dropped. This is because of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) noise of implemented EDFA. Therefore, in this paper, we are using hybrid optical amplifier (EDFA + Raman) at the relaying node to increase the data link and to optimize the BER of the Free space optical communication system, add on we perform simulations on FSO system with on-off keying (OOK) modulation, focusing on the BER of the OAF aided system.
