Abstract

High resolution directional of arrival (DOA) estimation technology play an important role in passive RF signal source localization, enhancing the performance of MIMO and beamforming arrays for mobile wireless communication. This paper presents the performance analysis and comparison for MUltiple SIgnal Classification (MUSIC) DOA estimation algorithm with uniform circular arrays (UCA). It has been reported that DOA estimation accuracy can also be fundamentally limited by the size of the region over which we measure a waveform. This paper we present our study for DOA estimation with UCAs in the presence of mutual coupling. The dipole model has been chosen for mutual coupling matrix calculation. Root mean square error (RMSE) of DOA estimation vs. array radius with and without mutual coupling, with different number of signal sources, for even and odd array element number were presented.
