Abstract

This paper investigates the performance of the Current-fed dual active bridge (CFDAB) DC-DC converter with a Proportional Integral based Fuzzy Controller (PIFC) and to realize the bidirectional power-sharing strategy of the converter in the given test system. The test system consists of a DC microgrid, an AC utility, Interlinking Converter (IC), and a CFDAB converter. The CFDAB and IC provides the bidirectional power flow between the AC and DC system. The PI controller of the CFDAB converter has limited operating points and complicated controller design. Hence, it lacks robustness and fails to achieve the control actions. To overcome the above issues, this study introduces the PIFC controller for improving the performance of the CFDAB converter because of its heuristic behavior. The DC microgrid test system with CFDAB converter is demonstrated using MATLAB/Simulink with various case studies. The effectiveness of the PIFC is validated with various dynamic conditions of the system.
