Abstract

As a novel radar altimeter, Tiangong-2 interferometric imaging radar altimeter (InIRA) has the characteristics of wide swath, imaging and high accuracy height measuring. Comparing with traditional radar altimeter, InIRA has high requirement of AD sampling rate and onboard memory, so data compression is required to reduce the bandwidth of the downlink channel. Amplitude-phase(AP) algorithm and block adaptive quantization (BAQ) algorithm are both widely adopted in SAR system data compression. This paper discusses the influence of AP and BAQ algorithm on sea surface height error for InIRA to prove AP algorithm can achieve higher compression ratio and less sea surface height error.
