Abstract
Ingestion of a foreign body is not uncommon, but in most instances the object passes through the gastrointestinal tract without consequence. Perforation of any portion of the alimentary tract by a foreign body can be difficult to diagnose if no history of ingestion is present. Although radiographs can detect and localize radiopaque objects, they will only occasionally show animal bones or wood splinters. To our knowledge the following account of a chicken bone found at colonoscopy is the first such case reported using this diagnostic technique.
