Abstract

The purpose of this study was to reveal the level of ‎perfectionism and academic adaptation among Gifted students ‎in King Abdullah II schools of excellence in Amman city. In ‎addition, the study intended to investigate the relationship ‎between the level of perfectionism and the academic adaptation ‎of these pupils. In addition to determining the influence of ‎gender and social class variables on the level of perfectionism ‎and academic adaptation among the study sample, the researcher ‎employed the descriptive correlation technique. The sample of ‎the study consisted of 477 male and female students, as the ‎males were 144 students and the females were 333 students. ‎Frost's (1991) perfectionism scale, translated by Al-Tj, ‎Huwaidi and Khzaled (2017), and the researcher's academic ‎adaptation scale were used. The findings of the study showed ‎that there is an inverse relationship between perfectionism and ‎academic adaptation. Further, it showed an average level of ‎perfectionism and a high level of academic adaptation among ‎the study sample. There is an effect for the students gender in ‎favor of males and for class variables in favor of seventh grade ‎in the level of perfectionism. Meanwhile, there were no ‎differences in student's gender on the level of academic ‎adaptation, while the difference was in the class variable in ‎favor of the seventh grade in the academic adaptation.‎ ‎(Keywords: Perfectionism., Academic Adaptation, Gifted ‎Students.
